Biography
I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. I became a Christ follower at a young
age but really took ownership of my faith during my time at college. It was during
that time that I was challenged to view my career as a ministry. My calling to become
a professor was shaped by the experiences with my own college professors who modeled
Christ-centered leadership. In the same way, I wish to mentor students and prepare
them for their future careers with a Christian foundation.
Before joining the faculty at Ouachita, I worked for two mid-size public accounting
firms in Little Rock. My primary focus was income tax compliance and research. In
addition, I managed multiple client groups, taught, and advised staff. I hope to turn
my work experiences into practical applications for the classroom.
I met my wife Tori at Baylor University while on an accounting mission trip to Uganda.
We’ve been married since 2012 and are blessed with twin daughters, Maddie and Emily
(and their pet bunnies Marshmallow and Honey). Tori and I previously led Sunday school
and discipleship groups for youth and young adults. We continue to be active in our
local church and enjoy serving together as a family.
Q&A
Why did you come to Ouachita?
I came to Ouachita because I felt a calling to use my experience and skills for a
greater eternal purpose. I believe discipleship happens both inside and outside the
church, and Ouachita provides a unique environment to mentor students spiritually
and professionally..
Why is your subject an important one in our world?
Accounting is a foundational skill in every organization. It teaches integrity, responsibility,
and stewardship—values that are deeply aligned with Christian principles. Accountants
play a vital role in ensuring transparency and ethical decision-making in business.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors. Some of our favorite things include
traveling, hiking, playing sports, and floating the Buffalo.
What has been a meaningful Bible verse or passage for you?
1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for
the glory of God.” This verse reminds me to keep Christ at the center of everything
I do and give all glory to Him.
