Christian Foundations: B.A.

You don’t have to work for a church to take your faith seriously and participate in the Kingdom of God! Christian foundations is designed for students who feel called to a career outside of full-time church ministry but seek an essential understanding of God’s word and God’s mission for a lifetime of faithful service to the Lord in any vocation. Christian foundations can only be done as a secondary major and adds 30 hours to your first major.

Pairs With More Than 60 Other Majors

"Every believer is called to live rightly and steward God’s Word within the context of everyday life. Giving students a program that can train them to honor the Lord in and through their career has been such a blessing for me. I have learned how to radiate Christ’s love in any environment. The degree requirements instill theology in students without being too dense to combine with another major. It is a way for students not seeking a ministerial position to walk away from graduation understanding how to represent Christ within their workplace and grow in their walk individually."

GAIN TOOLS FOR IN-DEPTH STUDY

Students in Pruet majors learn to carefully study the text of the Bible and apply it appropriately in modern settings. We believe that such in-depth study of Scripture is important not just for pastors and missionaries, but for all believers.

ACCESSIBILITY

is the key.

The standout feature of this major is its accessibility. An on-campus survey administered each year consistently shows that Ouachita students take their Christian faith seriously and want to serve the Lord intentionally in their chosen vocations. While they're interested in ministry and studying the Bible, many don't have the option to pursue a full Christian studies major. The Christian foundations major, with its reduced hour load, proves much more accessible.

Pruet School of Christian Studies

Our students gain an understanding of the theological, biblical and practical elements of Christian ministry as well as hands-on experience in ministry, missions and service.
