Mission Statement
The Department of Kinesiology is dedicated to developing the minds and bodies of men and women in preparing them to become servant leaders in professions related to fitness, health, teaching, recreation, sports and leisure activities. In this regard, the department is committed to diverse cultural, educational, scientific, and cross-disciplinary approaches that emphasize the total person. We support a broad multi-disciplinary integrative perspective that identifies health education, exercise, sport and skill acquisition as critical factors in preparing students to become healthy, knowledgeable, culturally sensitive, valued adult members of society.
Student Learning Outcomes
Ouachita kinesiology students will be able to:
- demonstrate basic musculoskeletal anatomy and their importance in human movement in health and wellness;
- demonstrate their ability to modify and adapt human movement for life, sport, and recreational activities;
- express ideas and knowledge through appropriate written communication (non-published papers); and
- administer programs, policies, procedures in the areas of health, physical education, recreation, and sports.
